Chris Tree

My name is Chris Tee, I paint, make film, create assemblages and sculpt.

Painting is my main practice. I tend to use implements and materials that come to hand, along side more traditional painting tools and media depending on what I am aiming to achieve. Essence of form and spontaneity are the main principals I work with at present. I approach sculpting in a similar manner. Assemblages involve text, and have a social or personal slant and are site specific.

I have exhibited as part of the No Parking collective in (April 2008), Beardism (October 2008) and as part of the Northern Lights autumn/winter exhibitions at Derby City Hospital (November 2008- Feb 2009). I have also exhibited as part of the Riff Raff festival sculpture trail (September 2008) and Slang, an open air exhibition (November 2008).

The film pieces I have made are accompanied with live musical performance and spoken word. So far they reflect life and death and have one central character. They were performed at Trigger, (May 2006) And Trigger, (November 2006).

Over the last four years I have worked with other artists in schools and with groups, providing arts workshops.
