Film made by the NOPARKING Collective for the exhibition they curated for the FORMAT International Photography Festival in 2009. It was first shown at the Opening Party at the Royal, then continually at 22 Cornmarket Derby as part of a TV Installation that could be viewed through the window of the empty shop.
It was created through a Dadaist game that began with a phrase and then carried on with next artist with the location of final scene from previous artist’s film with a phrase and so forth. A film version of consequences… all done on one camera and passed on with no editing.
NOPARKING is a collective of around 15 artists working in different disciplines. It is concerned with the ethic of making uncompromising art, but still maintaining a working agenda concerned with the process rather than simply the product.
Their work encompasses many fractions and art forms from Photography / Film / Sound to Sculpture / Performance / Painting / Illustration and other stuff besides. Some members have come from a studied and degree background, where others have been self taught.
